Closing Notice

Dear Friends in Christ:

While the Spirit is still strong and present among the congregants of St. James United Methodist Church, the combination of declining health of members and weak finances has made it increasingly difficult to continue as a congregation. Recognizing the situation and desiring to continue the many blessings and talents of those who have participated in the life of the congregation, a charge conference was held on November 20, 2019. The members present voted to close as a congregation and gift the church property to Wesley Freedom UMC so that ministry will continue.

On January 5, 2020, the closing worship service of St. James congregation will be held with Rev. John Wunderlich III, a former pastor of St. James, as guest preacher. This is an opportunity for congregants to remember their participation in and share memories of life together at St. James. The service will begin at 11:00 am and will be followed by a time of fellowship in the social hall.

We invite you to join us for this special service. Please feel free to invite others you would like to attend with you.

We look forward to seeing you on January 5th, 2020. If you have any questions, please call 443-465-5024 (Pastor Mary) or 443-536-7433 (Laura Bevard).

Grace and Peace,

Mary A. Buzby, Pastor

Laura Bevard, Council Chair
